11×14″ Watercolor by Jamie Wilke
This Palmer Lake, Colorado landscape presents the view of the town’s lake and mountains as seen from the northwest shore of the lake. I unexpectedly took this photo at the end of a mid-day run on a warm, partly cloudy day in late fall, and I had to paint it!
This painting shows off the brightest blue sky you’ll ever see, reflected in the smooth lake water. As a bonus effect, the puffy white clouds are making “cloud shadows” dance on the mountains behind the lake. The mountains and clouds are also seen clearly in the lake’s reflection.
This painting also features the town’s new pedestrian bridge, made possible by Awake Palmer Lake in 2020, that takes people safely over the railroad tracks to the trail that circles the lake.
